The stones would cry out

In what is called the triumphal entry (Luke 19:28-40; Matt. 21:1-9), we see Jesus being honored as He should.  He is seated upon the donkey, riding into the city as all the people spread their garments in the way.  They cried out, Hosanna to the Son of David; blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the Highest. (Matt. 21:9)

The people were praising Jesus as the Son of God, crying out Hosanna, which means “Save now“.

In Luke when the Pharisees wanted Jesus to tell the people to be quiet, He said that if they were to be quiet, the stones would immediately cry out.

How sad that only a short time later some of these same people would be crying, Crucify Him!

And so it was, the people eventually got what they wanted… but did they really get what they wanted? More to follow…
