of His saving power!
I have not been in the main stream job market in a long time. I must say that this new job I now have has taken alot of adjustment. I work in a call center and we all have our cubicles. I am in constant contact with many, many non-Christians.
I have not hidden the fact that I am an un-ashamed Christian. I boldly stand for Christ and the Christian way of life. Hearing all the language has been one of the hardest things to adjust to. And the base behavior of the unsaved sends me reeling at times. But you know what? God is still God, and He will be glorified!
I sit by a young man that has a very bad mouth. Just last week he told me, “Thanks for sitting beside me. You make me try to stop cursing so much.” Across from me is a young man that is really sweet, but not saved. Yesterday, he stood up and looked across at me and said, “Mrs. Pat, pray for me. I have put in for time off to leave at 9:00 p.m. tonight.” I said, Sure thing. My prayer was very simple. I prayed, Father God, please grant this prayer. Grant it so that You would be glorified in this place. ”
You need to know also that for the past few days anytime any of us in my immediate location put in for what we call “etop”, IF it was granted, it would be from 9:52 pm to 10:00 or 10:30. Never the full amount we had asked for, for whatever reason.
Time goes on, and I hear a WooHoo!!!! This guy’s time had been approved, AND for the full amount!! I stood up and just grinned over at him. He looked at me and smiled and said, “You make me believe just a bit more.” I told him, It’s a God thing!
It brought to my mind the jailer that almost took his own life when he thought Paul and Silas had broken out of jail. You remember the story from Acts 16. In those days, if a jailer lost prisoners, that person was killed. As you remember, an angel opened the door to the jail, but Paul and Silas remained in their cell. The jailer came and fell at their feet asking, “What must I do to be saved?”
And remember when Paul was brought before King Agrippa in Acts 26. In verse 28, Agrippa says, “…You almost persuade me to become a Christian.”
Friends, people are watching you whether you know it or not. Stand tall, secure in the love of the Heavenly Father. Be bold, be strong. Today could be the day that you by your life point someone to the One that saves.
Think about it, but more than that, act on it!
What an awesome testimony. I too have to sometimes catch myself when surrounding by those who are unsaved. It is refreshing that even my own mother has recently come to grow in her acceptance of the Lord.
I have a young man working for me now… who I plan to give my study bible… the one that I have made my notes and such in. He has a sincere interest in the Lord and I want to pass on as much information as possible to him so that he may continue to grow in the Lord. I plan on doing this with a new individual each year as I finish reading the Bible. Part of a covenant I made with God to read His word cover to cover each year for the rest of my life.
Sis Pat, please pray that I may endure with all long suffering and doctrine. And thank God for workplace saints such as yourself… continue to edify and bring souls into the Kingdom.
